"For that sophisticated woman that travels and falls in love with the culture and a man..." was NY Based designer Farah Angsana's inspiration for her "The Glamazon" collection.
Brazil---and the Amazon in particular---inspired much of the hand beaded/embroidered details (done in India) ---and exotic prints---for this luxurious collection of cocktail and evening dresses.
"I want women to look beautiful and not make an 'artistic' statement...some designers want to make weird statements..." SO TRUE...as Angsana's dresses are all fitted perfectly to enhance a feminine silhouette---not to make some kind of statement about geometric proportions that we see a lot in fashion editorial---i.e. this Fall's oversized coat trend---with some that would take up half a subway car. But we digress... Other notable highlights include Angsana's wonderful flair for bold colors and black and white---and the quality of the fabrics used...stunning, including silk chiffon, silk crepe, silk satin organza...and tulle, often embellished with sparkling crystals. "I am always taking pictures, " she noted..."even of hotel walls..." that color-wise, serve as inspiration.

We also had a chance to chat with lead hair/makeup guru Christo---who clued us in on how to get the "clean polished look for a va-va-voom woman..." "...a sleek high ponytail -with height and movement" he added... was the desired look. AND, a great way to show off all those ornate beaded necklines, imo without competing with the attire.
Products used include Christo's Shaping Spray, which contains sunscreen agents to provide volume, lift, and hold without ever flaking and Glow & Shine for just that--- added shine.
